|
Temperate GrasslandsSoil is dark and very deep and grasses dominate over any other plant. The temperate grasslands have been utilized by hunters, herders, and shepherds from all over the world. It is rare to find many trees and types of shrubs, but some of the grasses include ryegrass, wild oats, foxtail, buffalo grass, and more. There are also different types flowers that the animals eat, such as asters or cornflowers. When cattle eats grass, it disturbs any insect living inside of it. The cattle egrets then come along and eat the insects. The cattle egrets benefit from this relationship, but the cattle is not affected, so this is an example of commensalism.
